Star Wars: Dark Forces remaster gets February 2024 release date

October 27, 2023

Fans of the classic Star Wars first-person shooter Dark Forces will be able to experience the game in a whole new light when the remaster launches on February 28, 2024, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Developed by Nightdive Studios and published by Lucasfilm Games, the Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster will feature updated graphics and gameplay enhancements for modern gaming platforms. The game will run at up to 4K resolution at 120fps, with improved lighting and atmospheric effects thanks to advanced 3D rendering. Controller users will also benefit from a weapon wheel, rumble features, and gyro controls.

In addition to the aforementioned improvements, the Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster will also feature trophies and achievements. The original Star Wars: Dark Forces was released in 1995 and was the first first-person shooter game in the Star Wars franchise. The game follows Kyle Katarn, a mercenary who joins the Rebel Alliance after defecting from the Galactic Empire. Katarn must uncover the secrets of the Empire’s Dark Trooper Project and stop the creation of a new army of battle droids and stormtroopers.

Nightdive Studios is known for their expertise in remastering old games for new consoles. The studio has previously released remasters of System Shock Enhanced Edition, Quake Enhanced, and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. The studio is currently working on remasters of System Shock 2 and Turok 3.

The remaster’s updated graphics, gameplay enhancements, and trophy/achievement support make it a must-have for fans of the original game. Players who are new to the series will also be able to experience Star Wars: Dark Forces in its best form yet.
