Starlink Satellite Internet Available For Yachts For US$5,000 A Month

July 8, 2022

Starlink, a satellite internet company, now provides internet for boats, merchant vessels, oil rigs and premium yachts.

Known as Starlink Maritime, the service allows users to connect from the most remote waters across the world, just as they would in the office or at home.

Starlink Maritime costs US$5,000 per month and an initial fee of US$10,000 that covers two high-performance satellite dishes. Regular Starlink internet costs US$110 per month and US$599 for the necessary hardware.

Starlink Maritime has a fast, low-latency internet connection with up to 350 Mbps download on the high seas. It can withstand extreme cold, heat, hail, sleet, heavy rain and gale force winds, and can also withstand rocket engines.

Users can remotely monitor and manage their Starlink fleet from a single portal. Starlink also implements end-to-end encryption to protect user data and the confidentiality of user traffic.

Starlink Maritime offers users the possibility to interrupt and discontinue the service at any time. It is also billed in one month increments, allowing users to customize their service to their individual needs.

According to Elon Musk, the service is “important for maintaining the connection in choppy seas & heavy storms.”
