T-Mobile Exceeds Wireless Subscriber Addition In Q2

July 30, 2021

T-Mobile added more monthly phone subscribers than expected in the second quarter, aided by higher demand for 5G services and devices driven by remote work and learning trends.

The wireless carrier’s subscriber growth was also boosted by the reopening of its stores and the recent acquisition of Sprint’s customer base.

T-Mobile expects a net increase in postpaid customers of between 5 million and 5.3 million by 2021, compared to the previous forecast of 4.4 million to 4.9 million.

The company had 627,000 postpaid phone subscribers in the quarter, above the FactSet forecast of 560,500.

Total revenue rose 13% to $19.95 billion, compared with the lower forecast of $19.34 billion.
