Tata Group intends to open 100 small, exclusive Apple stores throughout India

December 13, 2022

According to two people familiar with the matter, the Tata Group intends to open about 100 small exclusive Apple stores across India.

The Tata-Apple collaboration comes as Apple prepares to open its first-ever company-owned flagship store in Mumbai in the first quarter of 2023, after being delayed by COVID-19. Tata plans to open two types of stores. There will be mini stores, each about 600 square feet in size, selling iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. A larger second style store will sell Apple’s entire product line.

According to an Economic Times report, Tata Group intends to open these small exclusive Apple stores across the country. Apple is reportedly working with Tata-owned Infiniti Retail, which operates the Croma store chain, on this.

According to the report, Infiniti Retail will become Apple’s franchisee partner as a result of this. These 100 small exclusive stores will be 500-600 square feet in size and will be marketed as Apple Authorized Resellers. They will, however, be different and smaller than Apple Premium Reseller stores, which are typically 1,000 square feet in size.

According to a retail consultant, Tata has begun talks with premium malls and high streets, and the lease terms include details about brands and stores that cannot be opened near these outlets.
