Twitter Debuts Edit Tweet Button for Paid Subscribers

September 2, 2022

Twitter Blue subscribers, who pay $4.99 a month, can edit their tweets a few times in 30 minutes. This follows a long-standing request from Twitter users to be able to edit their tweets after publication to correct typos.

Twitter has finally followed in the footsteps of other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and Pinterest, which have long provided editing features, but analysts have noted that the ability to edit tweets could have negative consequences, such as misinformation.

It should be noted that on the same day that he unveiled his 9% share of Twitter, Musk tweeted a poll asking his millions of followers if they wanted an edit button, and more than 70% voted yes.

When asked if the edit button would eventually be available to all Twitter users, a spokesperson said the feature would be tested to “anticipate what might happen if we bring it to everyone.”
