Twitter Expands Misinformation Tool To More Countries

January 18, 2022

Twitter will extend its test feature, which allows users to flag misleading content on its social media platform, to countries such as Brazil, Spain and the Philippines.

The social media giant introduced the new feature in August 2021 to reduce misinformation on its platform.

The U.S., Australia and South Korea were the first countries to test the new feature.

Since its launch, Twitter has received more than 3 million messages from users who have flagged tweets they believe violate Twitter’s policies.

In addition, last year Twitter launched another program called Birdwatch, which allows participants to write notes and provide more context to misleading tweets on a separate website.
