Twitter has fixed a software glitch that disrupted the service for several thousand users of its platform.

“We’ve fixed a technical bug that was preventing timelines from loading and tweets from posting. Things should be back to normal now,” the company explained via a tweet.

Downdetector had over 40,000 Twitter users reporting service outages. Downdetector tracks outages by the aggregating status report from multiple sources, including bugs submitted by users on the platform.

Some Twitter users also complained on Reddit that they were logged out of their Twitter accounts, while others claimed they could not send or retrieve tweets.

Immediately after the glitch was discovered, Twitter informed the public about the ongoing event on its status page. According to Twitter, its platform faced an increased number of bugs in the application programming interface errors (a set of protocols for building and integrating application software).

“We’re experiencing an elevated level of API errors starting around 17:41 UTC and are currently investigating. The presence and scope of any customer impact have not been determined at this time, but we will provide an update as soon as we know more,” Twitter said earlier.
