Twitter Fails to Acquire Clubhouse with Reputed 4 Billion Offer

April 8, 2021

Twitter held talks with Clubhouse about a possible $4 billion takeover of the live audio networking platform, but talks on the deal eventually collapsed.

The issues discussed during the failed takeover talks have largely remained private, though $4 billion for the social network appears to be an exorbitant price to pay for the audio app, especially given Twitter’s proprietary product Spaces.

Twitter has its own product that is very similar to Clubhouse Spaces, a decline in the audio chat room feature that has gained traction in recent months. Clubhouse has just introduced Clubhouse Payments, which allows users to send direct payments to other creators on the platform.
