Twitter loses regular staff after Musk takeover

November 2, 2022

Following an exodus of advertising and marketing executives just days after Elon Musk’s takeover, Twitter’s workforce continues to shrink, with departures either voluntary, involuntary or consensual.

Among the involuntary departures were CEO Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde, all of whom were reportedly fired by Musk.

Sarah Personette, Facebook’s Chief Customer Officer and Chief Advertising Officer, resigned voluntarily last week, adding to advertisers’ uncertainty about how the social media company will change under Musk. Furthermore, Chief People and Diversity Officer Dalana Brand announced her resignation in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday last week. Nick Caldwell, Twitter’s General Manager for core technologies, confirmed his departure by changing his profile to “former Twitter exec.”

Leslie Berland, Twitter’s chief marketing officer Jay Sullivan and Jean-Philippe Maheu, its vice president of global sales, have also left, though it is unclear whether they left voluntarily or not.

In addition, several employees say they have received little information about the company’s future, and a company meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled.
