Elon Musk said on Wednesday that a disagreement he had with Apple CEO Tim Cook about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store had been settled. Musk accused Apple of censorship and criticized its policies, including the 30% charge it levies on app store purchases.
Musk tweeted less than three hours after thanking Cook for the tour of Apple’s California headquarters that the two tech entrepreneurs had a “good conversation.”
Musk stated on Monday via Twitter that “Apple has largely discontinued advertising on Twitter. “Do they hate free speech in America?” he wondered, and the next day he added, “Apple has also threatened to remove Twitter from its App Store but won’t tell us why.”” He did not specify whether Apple’s advertising was discussed during the meeting. However, he mentioned that Cook stated that Apple had no plans to remove Twitter from the App Store, as widely reported.
“Among other things,” Musk tweeted, “we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store.” “It was clear from Tim that Apple had never considered doing so.”
