A recent survey by Personio, a human resources software company, found that four out of ten employees in the U.K. and Ireland plan to change career roles in the next six to 12 months because they are losing touch with their employers.

The year of remote work due to the pandemic has left staff burned out and frustrated.

The study, which involved 500 HR decision-makers and more than 2,000 workers, also warned that laying off employees could cost companies up to £17 billion.

With nearly half of HR managers surveyed by Personio reporting an increase in digital tools used during the pandemic, researchers found that companies used an average of six different tools for personal tasks and insights alone.

Not only that, but the number of digital tools they used to perform their day-to-day tasks increased, leaving many overwhelmed.

According to the report, more than a third of employees said that there were “too many digital tools to use at work” while 36% also reported negative effects on their productivity due to the overwhelming tasks.
