U.S. Cities Pay Remote Workers Up To $20,000 To Relocate

Some small townships and cities in the United States are looking for incentivize knowledge workers to move rewarding them with cash, tax breaks, and even property.

Some of these cities and towns are Morgantown and Lewisburg, West Virginia; Greater Rochester, New York; Southwest, Michigan; Noblesville, Indiana; Montpellier, Vermont; Newton, Iowa; Harmony, Minnesota; Mattoon, Illinois; Topeka, Kansas.

Morgantown and Lewisburg, two West Virginia cities, offer an estimated incentive value of $20,000. The package includes a $12,000 cash grant, as well as undisclosed gifts and incentives worth $8,000. Only applicants with a full-time job in a non-West Virginia company are eligible.

Greater Rochester is a city in New York offering incentives worth $19,000. The package includes a $10,000 relocation incentive and up to $9,000 in incentives for homebuyers. Those qualified include full-time remote employees who live more than 300 miles from downtown Rochester, can work in the United States, and can move within six months of joining the program.

Southwest, Michigan offers incentives worth $15,000. The package includes an incentive of $10,000 toward a mortgage for those who move and buy a home worth at least $200,000. An additional scholarship of $15,000 is offered when an applicant’s child is enrolled in a local public school. Those qualified include full-time remote workers who work for an employer outside of Michigan.
