U.S. Recovers Most Of The Ransom Payment In Pipeline Attack

On Monday, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said investigators had “found and recaptured” about 63.7 bitcoin worth $2.3 million, which she said was “the majority” of the ransom paid by Colonial pipeline to DarkSide.

Although this appears to be an important victory in the United States ongoing fight against various attacks by malware gangs, Colonial Pipeline chief Joseph Blount said in a statement that his company is grateful for the “swift work and professionalism” of the FBI, which has played a critical role in recovering the ransom.
