Ukraine To Get More Starlink Internet Terminals

March 7, 2022

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has confirmed that the country will receive more Starlink satellite internet terminals next week.

This came after the Ukrainian president spoke with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. “Talked to Elon Musk. I am grateful to him for supporting Ukraine with words and deeds,” Zelenskiy tweeted.

Ukraine had previously received donated Starlink satellite internet terminals from SpaceX, but with no sign of an imminent end to the war, there may be a need for more.

However, while Starlink was activated in Ukraine, Elon Musk warned that the satellite could be vulnerable to attack.

“Important warning: Starlink is the only non-Russian communications system still working in some parts of Ukraine, so the probability of being targeted is high. Please use with caution,” Musk tweeted.

To help people in Ukraine safely use the satellites, Musk asks users to “turn on Starlink only when needed and place the antenna as far away from people as possible” and “place light camouflage over the antenna to avoid visual detection.”
