VMware unveils subscription version of basic vSphere for server consolidation

December 16, 2022

VMware has announced the release of vSphere+ Standard, a server consolidation-focused edition of its flagship. As a subscription model, this version of the VMware vSphere Standard entry-level model also includes cloud functionality.

According to VMware, the latest multicloud platform shows that customers are deploying different editions of the vSphere portfolio for different environments and workloads. They do want to connect their version to the Cloud Console and take advantage of the benefits of cloud services and centralised management.

vSphere Standard, which costs $1,349 per year, includes the virtualization, storage, networking, and disaster recovery tools required to run a small fleet of hosts and virtual machines. However, it excludes the features and tools that power hybrid clouds, as well as their more complex networking and security requirements.

The vSphere Standard is designed to boost productivity through management services: Use the Cloud Console to manage and monitor global inventory, cluster capacity, alert status, security posture, and VM provisioning for each vSphere cluster from a single location.

With a single click, you can simplify vCenter instance lifecycle management. Reduce update maintenance windows, allowing for faster deployment of new features. Also, get automatic configuration discovery and remediation across the vSphere domain.
