Volkswagen’s ‘Voltswagen’ Is Really an April ‘Foolswagen’

March 31, 2021

A spokesman for Volkswagen recently confirmed that the alleged rebranding was done “in the spirit of an April Fool’s joke,” after Volkswagen US tweeted a new logo and a press release announcing plans to rebrand itself as Volt cars as part of the push for electric cars.

The Reuters news agency and the Wall Street Journal quoted unnamed sources who said Volkswagen would reveal on Wednesday that the name change was not genuine, saying it was “It’s a premature April Fool’s joke. It’s part of a marketing campaign for the ID.4.”
