Last weekend, many users flooded Winget’s software registration with requests for apps that are either buggy or duplicated, raising questions about the integrity of the Winget ecosystem.

Microsoft recently released the first stable version of its Windows 10 package manager Winget, which allows users to manage apps from the command line.

Winget enables Windows users to automate app management when installing, configuring, updating and uninstalling applications.

The introduction of the first stable version of Winget was a milestone for Microsoft.

But the multiple pull requests included already existing app names and incorrect application names.

In some cases, pull requests would override the manifestos of existing applications, coupled with incomplete information.

Some developers suggest that a newer version of Winget should require manual verification.
