Windows 11 To Get More Security Improvements In Upcoming Updates

April 7, 2022

Microsoft has announced that it will include additional security improvements in upcoming Windows 11 updates.

The improvements will help make Windows 11 more effective at protecting users from cybersecurity threats, as well as better encryption and the ability to block malicious apps and drivers.

Features that Windows 11 will get include improved phishing protection, personal data encryption, vulnerable driver blocklist, and smart app control.

The enhanced phishing protection protects against targeted phishing attacks using Microsoft Defender SmartScreen. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen is a cloud-based anti-phishing and anti-malware service.

The personal data encryption feature will help protect users’ files and data when they are not logged in to the device. The feature will do this by blocking access until they authenticate via Windows Hello.

The smart app control feature will help block users from running malicious apps using code signing coupled with an AI model.

Other security updates that will be introduced include enabling Credential Guard by Default and additional protection for the Local Security Authority (LSA). This is important for companies using Windows 11 Enterprise to further improve security in enterprises.
