A report published by the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) found that X (formerly known as Twitter) failed to remove the majority of posts that were flagged to the platform for containing “extreme hate speech.”

The report examined 300 posts that had been reported to X moderators for violating the company’s hate speech policies. A week later, 86% of those posts were still present on the platform.

According to the report, the flagged posts included those promoting racist caricatures and denying the Holocaust, as well as hateful imagery like the Nazi swastika.

In a statement, X defended its content moderation practices and accused the CCDH of making “false claims” and “misrepresenting” how widely viewed the posts in question had been.

A prior June report accused X of failing to act on 99% of reported posts violating hateful content rules from verified users, resulting in a lawsuit filed by the company against the watchdog group.
