Amazon To Introduce Robots In Warehouses

May 4, 2022

Big retailers including Amazon will roll out robots to support human activities in their warehouses.

Agility Robotics, one of the companies in charge of producing the robots designed to work alongside people in logistics and warehouse environments will deploy the robots at customers’ sites later this year

The funds for the project are part of the $1 billion Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund (AIIF). The investment will help to spur and support innovation in customer fulfillment, logistics, and the supply chain.

“The purpose of the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund is to support emerging technologies through direct investments, designed to spur invention and solve the world’s toughest problems across customer fulfillment operations, logistics, and supply chain solutions. Agility’s approach to designing robotics for a blended workforce is truly unique and can have a significant ripple effect for a wide range of industries, and we hope others follow suit to accelerate innovation in this way,” said Katherine Chen, Head of Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund.
