Nvidia’s AI chatbots speed up chip design

October 31, 2023

Nvidia has developed chatbots that can generate human-like responses to questions about chip design. These chatbots can help to speed up the chip design process by answering questions from junior engineers and generating code to test chips.

The chatbots are trained on 30 years of data from the company’s archives of chip designs, making them able to answer a wide range of questions about the process. It frees up senior engineers to focus on more complex tasks.

Junior engineers can ask the chatbots questions about the design process, without having to wait for a senior engineer to be available. This saves time, especially for large and complex chip designs.

Another way that the chatbots can speed up chip design is by generating code to test chips. When a chip is being designed, it is important to test it thoroughly to ensure that it works as expected. This testing can be time-consuming, but the chatbots can generate code to automate the process. This allows engineers to focus on other tasks.

Nvidia says that its goal is not to automate the chip design process or replace engineers. Instead, the company wants to give engineers “super powers” to make them more productive.
