Microsoft promises Windows updates without system reboot

February 25, 2024 According to an announcement in Windows Central, Microsoft is testing a new way of installing updates in Windows 11. This new method, called “hot patches” will not require a system reboot, and all innovations in the OS will be implemented instantly.

“Hot patches” allows updates in memory, allowing operating system to update without requiring a system reboot. This feature is currently being tested and aims to implement updates instantly, focusing primarily on security updates.

Not only does this promise added convenience and avoid the nuisance rebooting, it will also allow for more immediate updates of systems, offering greater protection for the user.

Although reboots won’t be needed immediately after an update, they will still be required every few months to ensure system integrity.
