Bitcoin Rises After Amazon Job Posting Update

July 27, 2021

A recent job opening posted by Amazon suggesting that the company may be accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment sent bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies surging with bitcoin up 12% in the last 24 hours.

Amazon’s job advertisement states that the company is looking for a “Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead who will be a member of the Payment Acceptance and Experience Team responsible for how Amazon’s customers pay on Amazon’s sites and through Amazon’s services around the globe.”

Amazon has denied reports about the company accepting bitcoin even with the job posting. The company issued a statement saying the reports are not true but indicated that they could delve into the world of cryptocurrencies.

If Amazon does accept cryptocurrency, it remains unclear whether the company will use an existing cryptocurrency or develop a new one.
