Amazon Unveils new Seller Storage Service

Amazon has unveiled a new service that allows sellers to keep and distribute inventory on a pay-as-you-go basis within Amazon’s fulfillment network. Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) the new service will help sellers store bulk inventory and facilitate distribution to address supply chain issues.

In a blog post, Gopal Pillai, vice president of Amazon Distribution and Fulfillment Solutions, said, “Amazon Warehousing & Distribution addresses critical supply chain challenges and helps sellers grow and manage their business while significantly cutting costs.”

According to Amazon, the new service is a continuation of its multi-year investment in its warehouse and distribution network to support sellers and better serve customers. It also frees sellers from the time-consuming and inconvenient process of moving inventory from upstream facilities to Amazon fulfillment centers and slows warehouse openings for Amazon to save money.

Amazon, one of the biggest e-commerce platforms has continued to face criticism over how it utilizes users’ data and intrude on their privacy without consent.
