AT&T has nationwide service outage

February 22, 2024 AT&T’s nationwide service outage, which disrupted the ability for many customers across the United States to place calls, text, or access the internet on Thursday, has been restored after approximately 11 hours.

Over 74,000 outage reports were logged on DownDetector, with the majority of issues reported in the early hours of Thursday. The outage affected not only AT&T’s wireless services but also briefly impacted the ability of customers to reach emergency services.

Other carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile experienced minimal disruptions, attributing reports of their own network outages to difficulties connecting with AT&T customers. T

he FCC is actively investigating the outage, emphasizing the importance of maintaining network reliability, especially in relation to emergency services. Local governments reported disruptions to their services, highlighting the widespread impact of the outage. AT&T’s FirstNet network for first responders remained operational throughout the incident.
