Booking.com tests AI trip planner powered by ChatGPT

June 28, 2023

Booking.com has announced that it would test a new AI trip planner powered by ChatGPT. The feature, which will be available to select travelers in the United States will allow users to pose queries and create itineraries in a natural, conversational way.

The AI trip planner will use ChatGPT to provide users with personalized travel recommendations. For example, if a user asks the planner for a romantic getaway, it might suggest a trip to Paris or Venice. If a user is looking for a family-friendly vacation, it might suggest a trip to Orlando or Disney World.

The planner will also use Booking.com’s existing machine learning models to provide users with information on destination and accommodation options. This means that users can be confident that the recommendations they receive are based on real-world data and are relevant to their specific needs.

Rob Francis, Booking.com’s technology chief, believes that OpenAI’s AI Trip Planner can help clients plan and identify travel alternatives in a more human-like manner. A trial version of the trip planner will first be accessible to users of Booking.com’s loyalty program.
