May 1, 2026 Indeed has expanded its partnership with OpenAI to integrate job search directly into ChatGPT, allowing users to find roles through conversational prompts. The move matters because it shifts job discovery into AI workflows, meeting users where they already search and potentially reducing friction in the hiring funnel.
The new Indeed app inside ChatGPT enables users to trigger a dedicated job search experience by mentioning “@Indeed” or launching it from the apps menu. After linking their Indeed profile, users receive personalised job listings based on their qualifications and preferences. While discovery begins in ChatGPT, applications and employer interactions still happen through Indeed’s core platform.
The integration reflects a broader shift in how people explore careers. Instead of starting with a traditional job board, users can move from a casual query, such as planning a trip or asking for advice, directly into job discovery. Indeed said the goal is to make searching for roles feel like a natural extension of everyday AI interactions.
For employers, the change expands distribution. Job listings can now surface inside ChatGPT conversations, increasing visibility beyond Indeed’s website and mobile app. The company positions this as a way to connect employers with candidates who may not begin their search on a traditional job platform.
The partnership builds on Indeed’s existing AI infrastructure. The company draws on more than 350 million profiles and over 140 million qualifications and preferences shared by job seekers and employers to power its matching systems. These models, refined over two decades, are designed to improve relevance and increase the likelihood of successful hires.
Indeed emphasises that while AI tools can surface opportunities, its platform remains central to the hiring process. Core actions like applying for jobs, scheduling interviews and communicating with employers continue to run through its own systems, maintaining what it describes as a consistent and trusted pathway from discovery to hire.
The integration also highlights a growing role for AI assistants as intermediaries in online services. By embedding structured marketplaces into conversational interfaces, companies are testing whether discovery, recommendation and action can happen in a single flow.
