Telstra Aims To Extend 5G Coverage Of Australia By 2025

September 16, 2021

Australian telecoms company Telstra on Thursday showcased a plan aimed at expanding 5G coverage to 95% of the nation by the end of 2025 and cutting net costs by A$500 million.

The cost reductions under the new plan, known as T25, are in addition to the A$2.7 billion already being considered under the current T22 strategy.

The rollout of the plan will begin on July 1, 2022, and includes the possible launch of a 6G network.

Telstra also expressed confidence it would be able to maintain a minimum of 16 Australian cents per share by T25.

The Australian telecommunications company, which was split into three in November, sold a 49% stake in its mobile tower business in July for A$2.8 billion.
