April 1, 2022

A day after the invasion of Ukraine, the US government warned private American companies about Russian Kaspersky.

According to U.S. officials, Kaspersky could be manipulated by the Russian government to cause harm.

The senior U.S. official said that Kaspersky’s Russia-based employees could be forced by Russian law enforcement agencies to provide information that would allow remote access to their clients “computers.

Kaspersky continues to deny any form of manipulation and stresses that it is an independent entity with no connection to the Russian government.

On March 25, the Federal Communications Commission added Kaspersky to its list of communications equipment and service providers considered threats to U.S. national security.

Kaspersky is one of the most popular cybersecurity companies and manufacturers of anti-virus software. Headquartered in Moscow, the company was founded by Eugene Kaspersky, who according to US authorities was a former Russian intelligence officer.
